You will be able to eat only small amounts of food and it is therefore important
that you follow the guidelines below to maintain energy levels and good
health.
WHAT WE AIM FOR EACH DAY
BREAD AND CEREALS:
- One to two slices wholegrain bread
- One small bowl of cereal
FRUIT AND VEGETABLES:
- Two pieces of fruit (fresh, stewed, canned)
- Three different coloured vegetables
- Try to include a glass of fruit/vegetable juice each day
MEAT/FISH/POULTRY/EGGS:
- 30-45g lean meat/fish/poultry OR
- 1 egg
DAIRY PRODUCTS: 3 SERVES
- 1 serve = 250 ml low fat milk OR
- 1 serve = 200g low fat yoghurt OR
- 1 serve = 2 slices (40g) low fat cheese
FATS AND OILS:
- Keep to a minimumĀ - dry fry or grill meat/chicken/fish and avoid margarine on sandwiches.
FLUIDS:
No limit on calorie free fluids between meals including tea, coffee, water, diet
cordial and diet soft drink.
